This is the main square — it's called Place de Massena — a few pics. In the centre — the statue of Appolo — it's Greek God of Sun with biblical sujet and fountain underneath — the figures made of marble on top of the street posts represent 7 continents.
This is the start of the Old Town — if you look at street names on the buildings — some have French name on top, underneath — another language — a hybrid between Italian and French, that's what people used to speak here in the Medieval Ages Below you can see the Local Authority building, Court of Jusrice and Churches — there are 15 Catholic Churches in the Old Town, some are 17th century, on all of them there are memorial names of those who died in the 1st World War, in one of those houses — right near the market — was a house of Nicollo Paganini — famous Italian violinist — I don't remember now which house it was
This is Promenade des Anglaise — main coastal part of Nice. The sea temperature is the same as air at the moment +22 C
Little local Statue of Liberty — to celebrate Americans
This is the street where all the boutiques are — Chanell, Louis Vuitton, etc — analogue of Bond Street in London
The main local transport is the tram there is no Tube (underground) or anything like that and hardly any buses
We are dining now -al fresco- in a little restaurant by the sea, I photoed the dish I ordered — it's Monk fish on a bed of steamed veg and mushrooms with a truffle sauce — the dish itself is only 18 Euros, can you believe it? In London it is 60 quid (slang for sterling) minimum. France is fantastic for natricuous good quality cheap food.
On my last few visits to Europe I have been asking myself a question you know — why the hell are we Brexiting? We are no better than them and in some cases — worse, bad value for money — for starters. Sometimes I think Britain is just an arrogant country. I definitely did the right thing by voting to stay in the EU.

You are too critical of yourself)) It’s just a fish dish that is cheaper in the country it’s served a lot, it’s local food. They don’t have London’s SOHO, theatre district, shopping, etc. London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. There is no doubt about it. You are not arrogant….we have Russians and Americans for that))

You are right. It is just I have lived in London for so long now — take everything for granted. And you are right — they serve Monk fish here a lot whereas in London it is considered delicacy. And the rents for restaurants in London are sky high, so they charge more anyway. The sea is so beautiful you know — same temperature as the air — 22C, one doesn't have to make hardly any effort to go into the sea, there's hardly any breeze here, but the beaches are pebble, not sand. The pebble is very nice colour though, almost white — not dirty grey like in Brighton for instance. We have sandy beaches in the U. K as well — Cornwall, Bournemouth, Plymouth — but Brighton is the closest to London — just one hour drive. My husband is calling Nice «posh Brighton». Posh is slang in England for «high class «- it's so funny.
We are in Monte Carlo right now — principal de Monaco- OMG, this place is exclusive — truly exclusive, Nice is nowhere near, I am taking the pics of everything - famous Casino, marina, etc This is an unbelievable place. I wonder what flag it will be — as they are actually a different state from France and their flag is red and white — like Polish. Can't put out the pics now as it will kill off the battery and it takes too long — will do it when we get back to Nice. I wonder — what flag — might even be British as wi fi here is slow and I got my roaming on just in case.

Sybil and I cant wait to see your pictures… Monaco in films always has that aura of high class. I think half of the Bond films have at least one scene shot there.
Sybil is sitting here surfing Expedia for hotels etc in Nice.

We are back in Nice and it is raining quite heavily, they are saying it should stop by the afternoon. Go — you won't regret it. You will be able to do it all — Monaco--Monte Carlo, Cannes, etc All these places are not huge (the whole of Monaco is comparable in size to Vatican) and is only 20 minutes away from Nice by train, by car — 40 minutes to an hour. We took the train — as it is an experience in itself — it's a double decker super comfy train and goes through all these lovely places on the Côte d'Azur in between the towns, my kids love trains as they are fed up with travelling by car and we don't have double decker trains in Britain. In Monaco it takes only about two hours on the bus tour to go around the place in detail and to the top of the mountains and see fantastic views of the harbour where the most luxurious yachts in the world live, etc We went to the National Aquarium (it is owned by Prince Albert), it is amazing — a must, very famous collection of marine life, the Palace of the Momaco Royal family and stil had half a day on the beach, the beaches are sandy in Monaco. The place is amazing. The bus tour is a must — a double decker with an open roof (like we have in London) and they explain every detail re Monaco — every building whilst classical music is blaring in between the explanations. It sets you in the mood. We also took a boat tour. I am a bit upset it is raining at the moment, but will have time to put out some pics of Monaco. But maybe it's a good thing — we are all exhausted after yesterday and need a rest. We will go to Cannes later in the week, for now — will laze around on the beach — well, when it stops raining that is. Off to have breakfast, will put out the pics of Monaco after. It's a breathtaking place.
P. S. i am saying 2 hours re bus tour — but that's if you hop off at every building and take pics like we did. I will put out the pics — they are self explanatory really — the architecture stretches from Medeival to 19th century, very well kept, not a lot of modern buildings. Garibaldi wall, streets, houses, banks, churches, palaces, etc. The most famous casino in the world which featured in James Bond movie — you will recognise — it is with green domes on top. Also there is this Jardin Exotic — belonging to the Royals right next to the Casino. Everything there belongs to the Roal Family of Monaco, including the citizens (I am joking), on the streets most cars are Bentlleys, Ferraris or Porches. There is just sheer richesse - everywhere. Pictures to follow, although all the names are in French or Italian so I won't be writing them — they are on the buildings anyway — you will be able to see. The restaurants are fantastic, the food is devine- like Michelin star restaurants in London. Anyway. got to go — pics to follow.
