Attempts to avoid paying taxes are everywhere, from business to individuals. Nobody likes to pay taxes. However, this does not change the fact that taxes on medium-sized business are higher in the United States than in Canada. Usually it is believed that if you help small and medium-sized businesses, allow them to pay less taxes, this will stimulate the expansion of production and the hiring of workers, which will lead to increased workplaces. economic growth. Well first of all I was talking about business tax rates, not personal rates… Buffet was specifically referring to personal when talking about his and his secretary’s taxes.
Net taxes are like fingerprints, unique to the individual. Every person would have a different story or viewpoint on the effect on them.
It’s a better discussion to look at rate bracket when looking at the big picture.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-... " The report, from the Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy, says 18 of America’s biggest corporations paid zero federal income tax from 2008 to 2015.
General Electric Co., International Paper Co., Priceline Group, and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. were among the companies that the Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy says had no net tax liability at all over the period. "

Just curious, does the report mention the other millions of US corporations? After all the US did collect a trillion dollars in business taxes.

You see, your problem is that you are trying to defend something that was done without public discussion, without input from working groups of industry professionals, without even a chance for senators to read a full version of Trump's Tax Law. So, the whole thing is rather stupid, and of cause, stupidity — is hard to defend.

No public discussion? Maybe you missed that election last November?
Just under 50% of voters voted for Trump and this style of tax bill was central to his platform.

People vote for Putin as well. A lot of people can't find their place in technological revolution, they are desperate and scared. But what it has to do with a Tax Law pushed through in record time purely for lobbies interests?

Trump promised lower taxes, Republicans delivered. If people didn’t want what Trump promised they shouldn’t have voted for him and Republicans.
The system is simple, if you elect a certain candidate/party you are voting to allow them to govern. Trump/Republicans are an odd group… but they are clearly pro-business and pro-capitalistism. No one should be surprised.
They have a right to implement their agenda. It’s the way the system works. CNN and others whining about speed and lack of consultation clearly have forgotten how the Obama administration passed their health care laws.
I’m looking forward to the reaction of Canadian governments to the reductions of business taxes south of the border.

I still don't get you. It feels like you are talking — blind. There is nothing about Trump as «the way the system works». All possible norms and previous precedents are broken. Any kind of professional approach or common sense thrown out of the window. Obama care — took more than a year of discussions, hundreds working groups, input and research from the industry. With this Tax Bill no one had a chance to provide any input, a lot of very big items were included just one day before voting. If for you this is normal, then for you anything else is also normal.
Sorry if I sound rude. If I would be in your place, I would say: «Yes, I know. Trump is unconventional president. And he might not be ready for this job. But I still think that he is trying to do good, and expect something interesting coming out from his presidency. »

No problem, actually that’s very close to what I think. While on social and environmental issues I do not agree with him, I fully understand the position he takes on his Southern border and agree with his general ideas on trade… maybe not the specifics (ie NAFTA) or the way he presents his ideas (nasty attacks) but I understand his and other Americans frustrations.

Привет друзья из Корка — флаг у меня на ирландский не поменяется, т к наш провайдер - Network 3 displays British flag only, unless one uses Wifi which we are not at the moment. Santo's Grotto like you wouldn't believe — I took the video, will download later. This years Christmas is amazing — постоянно в семейном кругу — we are flying out back to London tomorrow. I love you all. Merry Christmas guys.
