May suffered an extraordinary set back in her ratings and campaign today. She has never put a foot wrong up to the moment she announced her Social Care Costs policy (it's a policy that the elderly have to pay for their own social care — everywhere in the UK but Scotland) — so if one lives till the very old age and say — has a chronic old age type of condition like dementia for instance - then one can spend years and years in some special social care home — and they cost a fortune. Round where I live — around £1980 per week So — there are a lot of pensioners who are asset rich (have big houses — mortgage paid, kids long since moved out), but their incomes are limited as they are pensioners at the end of the day. So what happens at the moment is when one's savings run out — they make people sell their house in order to finance the social care costs. Only when /if one has literally nothing - only then the state will pay for it. So the Tories proposed the policy in their Manifesto, that noone will have to sell their house during their lifetime to finance their social care, but after they die — the State will come to you for all your assets. This caused outrage right across the country, all the parties and also there was a revolt in the Tory Party against it. See — forcing pensioners to sell their homes to fund their social care in their old age is a cruel and unfair policy, so this has been one of the biggest issues for a while, as well as the Inheritance Tax — which also nets a lot of middle class families. She was expected to announce that there would be no requirement to sell one's home and that the family home especially should be not subjected to be sold to finance the elderly social care costs — at all. But she came up with this — another attack on middle classes essentially (as those who have nothing — don't pay any social care costs in their old age, their costs are essentially financed out of the middle class pensioner's pocket). Corbyn labeled it «dementia tax» Her rating fell dramatically (the gap between the Tories and Labour was 20%, now it's only 9%). She then had to dramatically U Turn on the Policy — said they would introduce the cap on how much people who have assets or savings have to pay — but she mentioned the figure of £100K — that would be allowed to be passed onto your kids guaranteed out of your estate (say you have a house of £900 K — then if £800K is needed for the care costs, then that's what they'll take and leave you just a £100K). For London that's laughable in general — it's nothing. Basically — it 's crap either way. Anyway, you see — I was right that her Manifesto was risky. She alienated her core voters with this. When she was focused on Brexit — she was a hero (well, it's not really hard in such a Eurosceptic country), now that the focus is on the domestic polices — she came up with the Manifesto that hates the middle class. I will vote for her still, as I am sure will the majority, but it looks like her majority in the Commons might just be not as big as she would want. And maybe that's for the better — checks and balances, as they say.

This is one of the biggest issues facing public Healthcare. Because of people living longer, there is a kind of epidemic of dementia. In 10 years, US expects costs of caring for these patients to be close to $trillion annually. Florida is currently bankrupt in this regard.
