The Americans — well, they are fed up with the EU, cause the EU is a very protectionist block you see. They have been trying to sign a free trade agreement with them for years — not even years, what am I on about — bloody decades — with zero success. At the moment — all their goods are tariffed heavily in the EU. For example, if you order anything even on Amazon — from the States, you have to pay 20% VAT and 2.5% Customs Duty — at the point of entry into the country. If you use DHL for delivery, DHL pays on your behalf and then they bill you, before they release your goods. Well, that 22.5% - that's profit gone. If it weren't there (the VAT and the duty) — the American goods would be much more competitive and cheaper here, than say — German goods. Better quality, better price — even with delivery costs factored in. So Germany has been resisting ultra hard — any free trade deals with the US. The first thing the Tories will do here after Brexit — is they will sign a free trade deal agreement with the US. They are our ally, closest ally in the world. Why shouldn't we?

Talking about Trump, look — this is symbolic.

Tree planted by Trump and Macron to symbolize French-American friendship has died

Some #metoo humor

I wonder, why they blame only rich and succesfull people? I don't remember #metoo blaming a poor man.

What do you think about it?

>> Re Tory leadership — because of Gove coming out with his cocaine confession — https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/06/10/... — his chances are now very low. It is not so much the fact that he took Cocaine, a lot of people do it recreationally during their clubbing days and don't get hooked or anything, it is cause of hypocrisy. He used to insist on very hard punishment for recreational drug takers when he was in Cameron's Government and all the time he knew that he himself took it and escaped punishment continuously.

I know Cher of course, who doesn't. I can't say I am particularly impressed with her music, not my cup of tea really.

There is this whole secondary industry, if you like — on PRing oneself at the expense of the rich and powerful, famous people. You can «dress it up» as much as you like (not yourself personally — I mean — generally) — this movement, that movement. Ultimately — it is about PR and money. The rich — well, I happen to know some stinking rich people -nature of my job — and they are the same, normal people with their sins and everything else. It is just when one becomes rich and in the spotlight, they can get much more easily exploited in the way of — people trying to get their money from them, they become much more vulnerable. Everyone wants «a piece of you» if you are rich and successful, famous, etc. It is the way of life.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm conservative about it too. When it comes to legalisation — it's complicated. May be we should allow it in one particular place in Crimea or Sochi (for example) together with casino etc.

I agree with you on this one, #metoo is just another way to strip rich people of their money.

No problem, but deleted it — don't want the info that is too personal hanging around here for long.

It is complicated, I agree. When you have your own family and kids, all of a sudden one becomes very conservative about everything, can't be helped.

Tory contenders should learn from Pitt the Younger to avoid becoming another Theresa May

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/06/10/...

This is the great British satire on Pitt the Younger — from Blackadder series — it is very funny

To make a long story short there is a oppositional journalist Ivan Golunov who works for Medusa news outlet. Police arrested him under phony pretext (drugs) but all Russian journalists both pro-Kremlin (including RT) and anti-Kremlin stood with him as one. Police had to back off and release him.

You can find more details here
https://www.rbc.ru/society/07/06/2019/5cfa63bd9a...

One of the reasons pro-Kremlin outlets reacted like this is because so called «силовики» took too much power in the recent years and many influential and high-ranking officials were happy to 'flick on their nose'

What do you think about this cat? I think it's a shame they are too wild to be tamed by people

Well, that is good news then. Russia is a normal country with decent people living there. Why all the negative threads? I don't get it.

This cat looks a bit sick to me to be honest, I will look at your pics later. I don't know everything about cats, you know. I just had some myself and I like them, that's all.
