Here the main women's holiday is Mother's Day and again — there is no day off, as it is Mothering Sunday (Sunday is a day off anyway), and it is held on on the fourth Sunday of Lent, or 3 weeks before Easter Sunday. This year it falls on the 31st of March. And the history of Mother's day in England is quite grim — I wrote about it in one of my posts earlier on describing it to you — very Dickensian. Grim. But Mother's Day is still lovely, kids prepare for it at school, my husband gives me a huge present on Mother's day as well. I have my eye on a fantastic Art Deco ring at the moment I saw (Sapphire and Diamond, antique Tiffany and Co) — and he promised to get it for me. Although, his Mom has such a great Art Deco Jewellery collection-it is hard to find a ring out there to match what she has - by quality. She also gives me a huge prezzie on Mother's Day.

I learnt about this piano fantasy today while watching pairs figure skating. And one of the junior girls used this song in her short program

You know, it can be up to 6 warm-up groups in a event, but very often only last two groups are worth watching, so I don't watch 1-4 groups, but I listen to their music. Sometimes you can find very nice pieces just listening to figure skating competitions )

What is so silly about enjoying quality things? Honestly, I don't get it. It is like some sort of working class snobbism against higher classes and things that they find enjoyable. It is the same as the blacks' snobbism against the whites I guess. Just because you don't recognize that there are some things of quality in life — does not make you automatically a more spiritual individual. You remind me of the Sivillas of this world.

It is lovely, but a bit sad. To be honest — I don't particularly like it when they sing in Italian, I have no idea why people do.

Anyways, I can't tell you how happy I am that this week is over. This week at work was quite possibly the hardest week at work EVER for me. All my colleagues went out for drinks tonight and I announced first thing in the morning in the office today that I am so knackered (very tired) — I am not going out tonight. They have been teasing me all day saying things like «ever since you got promoted you became a snooty cow and can't be bothered to drink with us anymore «(they know it is not true and I am nothing like that and love drinking with them, we just tease one another at work all the time). We had a new starter today and I was his «training buddy» — well, he is quite experienced, I am just responsible for training him on the company procedures, etc. and his name is Gary and I kept calling him Steve all day. And then — in the evening — we had a colleague who just came back from an appointment and I went to introduce them to each other and said «Hi, mate — I don't believe you met — please meet our new starter — Paul over here». Gary turned around and said «Paul now, is it? I have been Steve all day. Pleasure to meet you mate, don't listen to her, the name is Gary». And they all burst out laughing. That is how tired I was by the end of the day. Crazy. I am planning to sleep all day tomorrow. No other plans. At all.

You know — Tiffany have one of the most beautiful and biggest (128 carats) fancy yellow diamonds ever discovered. The rough was over 250 carats, they had it faceted, after which it became 128 carats — it is a modified cushion cut — 90 facets. And they are keeping hold of it, not selling it. Not that a lot of people could afford something like this anyway.

Tiffany have never been about value for money, it is a high end luxury brand. The bubble wand in your pic is part of their luxury Christening baby gifts - like silver spoons, etc. Just a fun gift. Silver is a cheap metal of course, but there you go. The wand is made of sterling silver , obviously.

My daughter's choreographic competition is tomorrow morning. Have to wake up at the crack of dawn — we have to be in the Regent's Park area at 8.30. No rest for the wicked as they say. Wish us luck.

Some figure skating news. It's Junior World Championships time!

Anna is leading after the short program

Sasha is close 2nd

Unfortunalety, Alena is injured so she won't take part in it

Ting CUI (representing the USA) was 3rd

Ksenia is taking part in it instead of Alena, she took the 4th place in short program

She was nervous (it is her 1st really big international competition)

Everything will be decided in free skate
Here is live stream

Thank you very much. Last week she went to Charles's house twice and he stayed over at ours last night — to practice. They are really good. I don't know if they win anything or not and I don't really care, they are just very excited and happy to take part in it.

That's a shame. But injuries can't be helped. You know — our tennis player Andy Murray is out of tennis now completely, his career is finished. He had to have his hip replaced, he has a metal hip now and it is not the same. Everyone was devastated over here, cause he was the only British Wimbledon Champion since 1940s. He is a Scot.

Unfortunately it happens to professional athletes from time to time.

Adyan Pitkeev was very promising young Eteri student, but he had to finish his skating career because he injured his back

Alena's injury isn't that serious, she will be ready for her first senior season in time
