Redhead (Expat),

Many people still argue, who was better, Yagudin or Plushenko. What do you think about it?)

The second and the third ones are the best. Very beautiful. I remember watching figure skating pairs, etc. back in Russia when I was a kid — ages ago. Such a beautiful sport. They must show it on sports channels here — Sky sports, etc. But I never watch those channels, cause whenever one switches them on — there is football on it.
P. S. I can't sleep really, cause of the cough. I hate sitting at home — Saturdays we usually spend with the kids — doing something active — like going to the park, riding bikes with our boys and so on (my daughter has drama school almost all day on Saturdays now, used to be 3 hours, now she has tuition for LAMDA exams as well — that's another hour and a half). By the way she didn't pass her LAMDA exam with Distinction last time round — the second exam — that was a piece from Matilda by Road Dahl, but ironically — landed a role of Matilda with her Drama Schools Association (lots of students auditioned — but she got the role) and they are going to do performances in a few small theatres — church theatres, small children theatres around Greater London.. The performance today is one of the rehearsals, but parents were invited.

Sorry to hear she didn't pass the exam. But I guess the fact that she got the role comforted her.

I aslo like Volosozhar and Trankov most of all (the second pair). Btw, they are coaching the third one (TARASOVA & Vladimir MOROZOV)

You got it wrong. She passed the exam. But not with Distinction. There are three grades both in ballet and drama exams — Distinction (the highest), Merit and just Pass. She passed with Merit, but not Distinction. The reason I was upset is because up to date — all her exams in ballet she has passed with Distinction, all the exams for Drama — Distinction as well. This one was the first one with Merit, not Distinction. I am a very vain Mom you see, she has a great record, so we should be happy. In the second LAMDA she only missed Distinction by 3 points (the mark for Distinction was 80 and above out of a 100, she got 77, She probably just got some very strict judges on that day, but it is all experience anyway).

Oh, I'm glad to be wrong this time

Some figure skating humor
Russian junior ladies team at this worlds will be Anna, Alexandra and Alena (so called AAA)

You know, Evgenia was winning everything for 2 years in a row, then it was Alina. Some people(haters) really wanted more unpredictability in ladies skating... They were bored when the same Eteri skater was winning everything.. Eteri now gives it to them, now you don't know which one will win, but it still will be an Eteri girl

To be fair — Plushcenko is better hands down — in terms of skating, seems more in control of his movements and more on point, etc. But he looks a bit funny, like a jester. Yagudin is kind of better looking and his artistry is more of a male nature, it is hard to explain. I don't know really — they are both great skaters. But if I was given a choice of who to support, I would probably support Yagudin. But that's just my impression from seeing those 4 videos, I don't know anything about them.

There was a lot of drama. They both trained under one coach - Alexei Mishin. Mishin prefered Plushenko to Yagudin. So Yagudin left Mishin and went to Tatiana Tarasova, changed his approach, his way of thinking. He changed everything. And he won, he won almost everything in 2002 (Olympics, wordls, etc). After he got all the titles he wanted Alexei retired.

Both are great skaters. My favourite skater is Yagudin, because I love his «winter» so much. For me it is the best mens short program ever.

Plushenko… I like him too.
He was superb in 2000−2006 period, but in 2007−2014 he was not so good as he used to be. Anyway despite he retired in 2014, he is still an active skater, Evgeni takes part in multiple ice shows in Russia and in Japan every year.

Plushenko loves figure skating so much he spend more than 20(!) years as a competitive skater. You know, usually skaters career is very short (5−6 years). He has so many titles. He is a four-time Olympic medalist (2006 gold, 2014 team gold, 2002 & 2010 silver), a three-time World champion (2001, 2003, 2004), a seven-time European champion (2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012), a four-time Grand Prix Final champion (1999−2000, 2000−01, 2002−03, 2004−05), and a ten-time Russian national champion (1999−2002, 2004−2006, 2010, 2012−2013).

Redhead (Expat),
Actually, you were right about the jester. One of his most famous programs is "sex bomb"

Yeah, I just looked it up — he is the most titled male skater of all time.
They are both amazing. Probably the fact that they had to compete so hard with each other made their skating a lot better, brought more abilities out of them both. Competition always does.

People call thier era a golden age of male figure skating. Later I'll post some videos of male skaters programs from 4 continents championships.
